Trans Ocean 55 Offshore Passagemaker
- Asking Price NZD 995,000.00
This is a unique opportunity to purchase an offshore proven large volume, easily driven displacement motor yacht with graceful lines, a beautiful blue hull and Gardner diesel, which will impress the most discerning passage-making enthusiast. From the computer cut round bilge steel hull to the epoxy composite cabin and super-structure this is a refined design which had years of planning, experience and thought going into it with Trans Ocean building the steel hull and Salthouse Marine and Graeme Johnson completing the fit-out. Chosen as the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron’s start boat during two America’s Cup regattas as a stable platform to work off, she was also fully repainted in 2009 by Southern Ocean Marine in Tauranga using International Paints.
With twin doors from the pilothouse to the walk-around side decks and an elegant Portuguese bridge for added safety “Scotsman’s” wheel house is seriously equipped for long range passage-making with a twin helm seat in leather and a settee and small dinette table so guests and crew can relax in comfort.
The interior woodwork was supplied handcrafted by Salthouse Marine in American Ash with teak inlays giving a light and airy feel with molded pelmits and upholstered head-linings which are both tasteful and practical. The galley is aft on the port side of the saloon and features a Fridge and Freezer with a 4 burner gas hob and stove with oven and grill. The galley also has twin sinks, microwave oven and timber floors and with plenty of storage and a pantry adjacent. Good ventilation through opening windows allows cooking heat to escape too.
The saloon also features an entertainment centre with TV and Bose stereo system on the port side. The owners stateroom is positioned amidships under the pilothouse away from anchor noise and where there is less motion when at sea with an island queen sized double bed and en suite with wardrobes and plenty of live-aboard drawer space.
A second forward cabin has conventional Vee berths sleeping 4 adults with a second toilet and shower on the portside which serves as a day head and guest bathroom. The American Ash timber and soft fabric linings give her a light and spacious feel to the accommodation areas. The port and starboard bathrooms with easy care white linings, a gas califonte water heater gives unlimited hot running water.
Gardner diesels are renowned for their longevity and economy due to their low revs at cruising speed of only 1300 RPM’s. There is plenty of room for additional equipment or servicing and a work bench for repairs at sea. Note the computer cut steel floors and engine bed supports. A serious anchor set up with twin rollers and back up gear.
Flopper stopper stabilizers ready to be deployed, and the stainless steel tube catches fresh water from the aft cabin-top to be plumbed into the tanks if needed. The walk-around decks give a great feeling of safety and protection from the elements when at sea, with a teak coaming capping and a gate gives access to the dock or another boat when rafted up.
The large aft cabin-top is accessed from the cockpit and the davit crane boom is used for launching the tenders. The dry stack exhaust comes out of the funnel and the cabin top areas are set up to catch rainfall if required to fill the tanks.
The tender is a Zodiac 3.4m inflatable with a 25hp Yamaha outboard
